Disaster Planning
No one wants a disaster to occur but reality is, it may. Crisis preparedness planning will determine when or if you’re able to resume business. Many people don’t realize the importance until it’s too late. Don’t be one of them. Owners invest countless amounts of time, energy, and money into their business. So it’s imperative that you protect it with a continuality plan. If you haven’t already taken steps to ensure your business’s ability to recover after a disaster, there’s no time like the present. Your disaster plan should include the following.

Stay Plan – List current location as well as a site where business will resume, should a disaster prevent operation at the primary place. Also identify and include contact information for primary and secondary crisis managers.

Emergency Contact – Just in case it’s needed, list contact information for emergency and non-emergency police as well as fire departments. Details to contact the insurance provider should also be included.

Potential Adversity – Identify possible natural and man-made disasters that could impact the business.

Internal Planning Team – Identify who will participate in emergency planning and crisis management.

External Planning Team – Identify nearby businesses or other external groups who will work with the internal planning team.

Critical Operations – Make a prioritized list of significant operations, personnel and procedures that need to be recovered following a disaster.
